How Time Auction works

1. Earn Karma

Donating and logging past volunteer hours earns you Karma Points, which you can then use to bid on auctions. $1 donated earns 1 Karma Point and 1 hour volunteered earns 10 Karma Points.

2. Bid

Bid your Karma Points to meet inspiring people, such as humanitarians, entrepreneurs, athletes, or artists. Most auctions allow every bidder to win if the goal is reached.

3. Meet

Time Auction is all about priceless experiences and rewards for the priceless philanthropy you do. Depending on the auction, meetings are done virtually or in person... or both!

Experience
Grab a lunch with Robin

Robin has a wealth of experience in many different careers. In this group lunch session with up to two other bidders, feel free to ask Robin about her work locally and abroad, or what her current most challenging problems are. You can also ask her for advice on a charitable idea you might have. Nothing's too big to tackle - Robin's Pencils for Kids idea started with just a phone call after all!

Robin Mednick is the founder of Pencils for Kids, a Canadian NGO working to provide every child the opportunity for an education

Robin donates her time, as a volunteer, to running Pencils for Kids. Since 2005, Pencils for Kids has partnered with the community of Libore, in Niger, West Africa, with a population of 30,000. They have built three schools, a library, nine kindergartens, sponsored scholarships for girls and are piloting a Farmers of the Future program in three schools.

Her inspiration came from hearing 30 kids had to share one pencil in a Niger classroom and it was her instinct to say “let’s not just talk about it, let’s do something”. Pencils for Kids is a charity providing classroom supplies, programs, libraries and schools to communities in need. Through sheer passion and determination she turned an idea into action and seven years later, schools have been built, scholarship programs implemented and lives have been transformed.

By focusing on education, Robin has left an indelible mark on the lives of kids and their community. She is a prime example of how ordinary people can do extraordinary things by sharing their stories and taking one step at a time.
