How Time Auction works

1. Earn Karma

Donating and logging past volunteer hours earns you Karma Points, which you can then use to bid on auctions. $1 donated earns 1 Karma Point and 1 hour volunteered earns 10 Karma Points.

2. Bid

Bid your Karma Points to meet inspiring people, such as humanitarians, entrepreneurs, athletes, or artists. Most auctions allow every bidder to win if the goal is reached.

3. Meet

Time Auction is all about priceless experiences and rewards for the priceless philanthropy you do. Depending on the auction, meetings are done virtually or in person... or both!

Eat lunch with Jordan at Facebook's Canadian Headquarters

Ever wondered what an office of the world's largest social network looks like? Grab some lunch with Jordan on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014 and let him show you around Facebook's Canadian headquarters. The lunch and tour will last about an hour and you will be sharing the reward with up to two other bidders. Feel free to ask Jordan anything about his experiences in the tech world, his support for Alzheimer's research, or how many friends he has on Facebook.

Jordan Banks also used to run eBay Canada, and has been named one of the "Most Influential People in Canada" by Financial Post magazine

Jordan Banks is the Global Head of Vertical Strategy and Managing Director for Facebook Canada.

Prior to Facebook Jordan was the CEO of JumpTV, a publicly traded online provider of live and on-demand sports and international television that merged with Charles Wang’s Neulion Inc. in 2008. Before JumpTV, Jordan served as the Managing Director for eBay Canada, a division that he helped launch in 2000.

Jordan loves to give back to the community and he's excited to participate in this Time Auction. He'd love to meet you!

The Last Lecture by Jordan Banks at Western University.

Jordan was born in Ottawa, Ontario and grew up in Toronto, Ontario Canada. He attended St Andrew’s Junior High School and York Mills Collegiate Institute. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at the University of Western Ontario and later received a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University.

In 1994, Jordan started his career as a lawyer working for Goodmans, a Toronto based law firm. Later, he was asked to join the National Hockey League Players Association where he was an executive in its Licensing and International Business group. Jordan was then hired as the second employee at eBay Canada and helped launched the organization in 2000. In 2005, he was made Managing Director, a position that he retained until his departure in 2007. During his time at eBay, the Canadian division grew to over $1 Billion dollars in activity.

In October of 2007, Jordan assumed the role of CEO of JumpTV and helped architect the merger between JumpTV and Charles Wang’s Neulion Inc.
Following his time at JumpTV, he co-founded Thunder Road Capital, an investment and advisory firm focused on supporting early stage technology companies. To date, the firm has made sixteen investments.

On the philanthropic side of things, Jordan was the founder of Sportsfest, an annual sporting event that raised more than $1 million dollars for Alzheimer's research and care. Jordan has furthered his commitment to Alzheimer's research and care by serving on the Boards of Directors of Cogniciti, The Tanz Centre for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases, and The Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care - a research and education hospital with a focus on developing and providing innovations in ageing and brain health.

Jordan is a recipient of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40, and was one of four inaugural winners of the Hugo Boss “Leave A Mark Award” celebrating “Men of Excellence” in Canada. In 2012, Jordan was invited to deliver The Last Lecture at the University of Western Ontario.
