Marjorie Brans currently leads the School for Social Entrepreneurs (Ontario) and was a Director of the Harvard Law School Fund.
Get to know Marjorie and how she is helping to transform our society through the work she does at the SSE-O. As an expert in social innovation and social intra- and entrepreneurship, this is an opportunity for you to pick the brains of someone who has seen firsthand how people everywhere are working creatively to improve the world we live in.
Marjorie Brans leads the School for Social Entrepreneurs Ontario. Prior to SSE-O, she was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at NESsT, a social venture capital fund spanning 10 emerging economies.
She also worked with international aid agency Oxfam as a Senior Policy Advisor in the area of business and global poverty. In that role, she specialized in the areas of banking, investment, and insurance, and also advised some of the world's largest corporations including Walmart, General Mills, Citigroup, and Swiss Re on corporate social responsibility and the opportunities that lie in blending social and financial goals.
Marjorie completed her studies at the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, Amherst College, and the Universite de Geneve. Before Oxfam, she held various positions at PhotoVoice, a London-based NGO, and Indochina Capital Corporation. She also served as a Director of the Harvard Law School Fund. Marjorie is a decent cook, public radio fanatic, and lover of music.
