How Time Auction works

1. Earn Karma

Donating and logging past volunteer hours earns you Karma Points, which you can then use to bid on auctions. $1 donated earns 1 Karma Point and 1 hour volunteered earns 10 Karma Points.

2. Bid

Bid your Karma Points to meet inspiring people, such as humanitarians, entrepreneurs, athletes, or artists. Most auctions allow every bidder to win if the goal is reached.

3. Meet

Time Auction is all about priceless experiences and rewards for the priceless philanthropy you do. Depending on the auction, meetings are done virtually or in person... or both!

Have a beer with Phil

Come over to Public Inc.'s offices and grab a beer with Phil after work. Feel free to ask him about his best idea, his latest idea, or what he likes to do on weekends. This will be a group get-together with Phil and four other bidders.

Brainstorm new, innovative, and crazy ideas with Phil

Got an idea you'd like to run by one of the top creative minds in Toronto? Have a two-hour brainstorming and whiteboarding session with Phil about your social project. If you don't have one, you can discuss with Phil the social issue you care most about and perhaps you can start something to help the cause!

Meet Phil Haid, who has no shortage of good ideas. Whether over a nice beer or in front of a white board, you'll learn something from Phil!

Public Inc. mobilizes the public good through the creation of programs that raise money for charity and advance social causes. It develops powerfully creative ideas taken to scale, in order to achieve unlimited social impact. Public Inc.'s ideas are realized by motivating people to do small acts of "good" in their every day life, through simple, engaging and rewarding activities.

Recent campaigns by Public Inc. include: The Get HandsOn Challenge, a national campaign to mobilize volunteerism across the United States; launching generationOn, the newest and largest youth volunteerism organization in America (with the support of Hasbro, the Hub and Discovery); Zero Force, an advocacy and fundraising initiative with General Romeo Dallaire (former commander of the UN Force in Rwanda during the genocide) to eradicate the use of child soldiers; Shelter from the Storm, a fundraising campaign to stop violence against women; a car-free day for WWF; and developing three PUBLIC created initiatives -- Power of 2, goodnightsleep, and Football for Good.

Bid volunteer hours to meet Phil in person and see how it all works! He'll love to meet you and chat about whatever's on your mind - from social issues to the best marketing campaign he's ever seen.

Born and raised in the icy tundra of Winnipeg, Phil Haid left Winnipeg in his mid-twenties to travel the world. He got a Masters in International Relations, worked in Parliament, a think tank, a youth research firm, and a social marketing agency, before starting his own company. He loves his family (his kids make him smile everyday), cottage vacations, hiking the Himalayas, U2, politics and the Raptors (talk about loyalty).

As Co-Founder and CEO of Public Inc., Phillip plays a major role in building Public Inc.’s profile and network across North America. In addition to managing the operations and growth of the company, he is actively involved in business development, and thoroughly enjoys “getting his hands dirty” developing campaigns and initiatives for several of Public Inc.'s key clients.

Prior to creating Public Inc., Phillip spent seven years as Vice President & Managing Director of Manifest Communications, Canada’s leading social issue advertising agency. His role involved running the company’s operations and acting as a strategic lead on cause and corporate citizenship strategies and advertising campaigns.

Before Manifest, Phillip led the public sector practice at D-Code, a youth research and marketing firm; was a Project Manager at the Institute of Governance (a think tank based in Ottawa); and a Project Officer at the Canadian Council for International Cooperation. Phillip serves as Chair of the Board of Anaphylaxis Canada and has a Masters in International Relations from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs.

"Shamin shared his stories with our Teach for Canada team and we took away so much from the interaction. Thank you Shamin, and thank you Time Auction for helping coordinate all of this!"

"Meeting Robin was one of the best decisions of my life. She inspired us with her story of starting Pencils for Kids, and on making a difference in one of the poorest economies in the world: Niger. Robin kindly offered to help the NGO that I support, and within months, we were collaborating with each other to successfully launch a new social program in Niger! I've learned insights from Robin on international development that I could not have gained from any textbooks. Thank you Robin, and thank you Time Auction!"
