How Time Auction works

1. Earn Karma

Donating and logging past volunteer hours earns you Karma Points, which you can then use to bid on auctions. $1 donated earns 1 Karma Point and 1 hour volunteered earns 10 Karma Points.

2. Bid

Bid your Karma Points to meet inspiring people, such as humanitarians, entrepreneurs, athletes, or artists. Most auctions allow every bidder to win if the goal is reached.

3. Meet

Time Auction is all about priceless experiences and rewards for the priceless philanthropy you do. Depending on the auction, meetings are done virtually or in person... or both!

Experiences
Brainstorm a new product or growth idea with Jesse

Don't feel like coding? Learn about entrepreneurship instead. Jesse has started and run several successful startups - and even sold one of them. Pick the other side of Jesse's brain and whiteboard out your ideas with him. This two-hour session can be invaluable to the future of your project.

Code up a project with Jesse

Have a 2-hour coding session with veteran programmer Jesse Farmer on your startup, side project, or something completely new! With Jesse's background in coding education, you are bound to leave the session better than when you came into it. Complete beginners or experienced hackers are welcome!

Code alongside Jesse Farmer, or chat with him about his path from a degree in mathematics in Chicago to a Silicon Valley startup success.

After graduating with a degree in mathematics from the University of Chicago, Jesse moved to San Francisco and never looked back. In 2010 he co-founded Everlane, a venture-backed online fashion retailer. In 2012, he co-founded Dev Bootcamp, a 9-week, 700+ hour bootcamp to train software engineers. He's now working at Mission Bit and is dedicated to bringing free programming classes to San Francisco's public school students.

In 2012 Jesse co-founded Dev Bootcamp with Shereef Bishay and Dave Hoover. He was responsible for the curriculum, internal technology, marketing, and external customer support.

Before that, Jesse co-founded Everlane with Michael Preysman in 2010, where he was CTO. He grew Everlane's waiting list from 0 to 200,000 customers in the lead up to its November 1st launch in 2011 and built the first version of http://everlane.com.

Jesse grew up in Elk Rapids, MI and went to school at the University of Chicago, where he graduated in 2006 with a BS in Mathematics. He was the first engineering hire at POPSUGAR and employee #10. He left POPSUGAR in 2007 to work on Adonomics, which he sold in 2008. He spent the next few years with what can best be called "viral shenanigans" on Facebook and elsewhere. During this time he had the pleasure of working alongside some preposterously smart people like Matt Humphrey, Joe Damato, and Aman Gupta.

Jesse's happy to talk about Entrepreneurship, Fundraising (Business), Educational Technology, Programming, and Viral Growth and Analytics. He's happy to talk about other things, too, like your relationship with your parents or why women don't seem that interested in dating you.

Jesse sometimes write things at http://20bits.com.
He answers things at http://www.quora.com/Jesse-Farmer

Testimonials from other auctions (Read more)
"Meeting Robin was one of the best decisions of my life. She inspired us with her story of starting Pencils for Kids, and on making a difference in one of the poorest economies in the world: Niger. Robin kindly offered to help the NGO that I support, and within months, we were collaborating with each other to successfully launch a new social program in Niger! I've learned insights from Robin on international development that I could not have gained from any textbooks. Thank you Robin, and thank you Time Auction!"
Mohammed Shafique
"I really enjoyed meeting Jodi. I never would have known about Jodi's amazing work in mental health and entrepreneurship if it weren't for Time Auction!"
