How Time Auction works

1. Earn Karma

Donating and logging past volunteer hours earns you Karma Points, which you can then use to bid on auctions. $1 donated earns 1 Karma Point and 1 hour volunteered earns 10 Karma Points.

2. Bid

Bid your Karma Points to meet inspiring people, such as humanitarians, entrepreneurs, athletes, or artists. Most auctions allow every bidder to win if the goal is reached.

3. Meet

Time Auction is all about priceless experiences and rewards for the priceless philanthropy you do. Depending on the auction, meetings are done virtually or in person... or both!

Tour EA's Burnaby Campus with Matt

Get a tour of EA's awesome campus with Matt as your tour guide. He'll show you the fitness rooms, two theatres, coffee bars, and a video games room. If you're up for it, you can challenge Matt to a game or two! Afterwards, grab a lunch with Matt at the EA cafeteria called EAt. Feel free to ask him anything about his career, or even his favourite football team! The winning bidder can bring a friend along. The event will occur on Friday, Mar. 13, 2015, from 11:30a.m. to 1:00p.m.

Matt Bilbey, SVP at EA, will give you a tour of EA's largest state-of-the-art campus, where they make EA's biggest global sports franchises.

Growing up in England, Matt Bilbey had "football" (soccer) in his DNA. While still studying for a diploma in international marketing, he got a summer job working for Electronic Arts' London operations in sales. He even got to test some of EA's sports games – a pretty sweet gig for an 18-year-old football fan.

He worked his way up to product manager for EA's FIFA franchise, which is made in EA's Burnaby studio. In 2001, he was asked to move to Vancouver. Since moving to Vancouver, he has moved up the ranks to become senior vice-president of a division with more than 1,200 employees worldwide – 800 of them in EA's Burnaby studios – and is one of the company's youngest executives.

Last year, EA hit a major milestone: $1 billion in sales, just on the FIFA game franchise. While hockey doesn't have anywhere near soccer's global popularity, EA's NHL franchise is one of the highest-rated games in the console game industry, with annual sales of $200 million.

Although EA is best known for its sports console games, it also makes the popular Battlefield series, as well as mobile, handheld and Facebook games. EA is the world's second-largest console game maker, with $4 billion to $5 billion in global sales. The FIFA business – the Burnaby campus – is responsible for over $1 billion of that.
